About Us
The Friends of
Arcadia Lake Equestrian Trails formed February
2009. Trail riders found out through property
owners that a new park was to be built right in
the middle of the existing horse trail. At the
same time, trail riders were upset that trash
from a Spring 2007 flood was still along the
trailside area. To better work as a team with
the City of Edmond and the Corps of Engineers,
the Friends group organized and held a clean up
day. Through the partnership of the Edmond Parks
Department, the Arcadia Lake Staff and the City
of Edmond, 70 bags of trash were removed. The
trails were back on the way to a natural
environment.
Mission Statement: The Friends of Arcadia Lake
Equestrian Trails is a volunteer organization
committed to support and promote trail riding
through collegial relationships with the local
land manager to establish and restore trails. In
addition, the Friends are educating local
communities about the appropriateness in caring
for valuable land resources and the enjoyment of
horses and riders to spend time in a natural
habitat and environment.
