The Friends of Arcadia Lake
Equestrian Trails joined in on the annual
Arcadia Lake Sweep Day on Saturday, Aug. 7. The
Friends group, along with other volunteers,
picked up about 50 bags of trash.
"We are so thankful for
everyone in helping get the horse trails
cleared and restoring the natural habitat for
wildlife at the lake," said Terri Folks,
co-chair of the Friends Group. "We would also
like to commend the Arcadia Lake staff who have
been working hard to re-open the trails for
equestrians. There is still a lot to do but we
have all certainly made a dent in the trash."
The area has also received
help by Tinker Air Force Base volunteers coming
on a regular basis, already filling a dumpster
full of trash. The trash and debris washed up on
the shores of the lake after the June 14 flood.
As the water receded, the trails area was
covered with litter and wood debris.
